Love
The power of love is something that goes beyond this lifetime
I've learned that love is something incredible and magnificent that needs to be cherished when it's found, fostered, nurtured, and developed into something that can stand the test of time in this lifetime and the next.
I've been so incredibly blessed to witness love up close and through trying times, life difficulties, and the inevitable times of death.
Sitting beside my sister as we watched our grandfather on our father's side in a hospital bed where his life was fleeting, his muscles had given on him, his voice was lost forever to the curse of cancer. We watched misty-eyed as our mother who loved our father, his son, showcased how love can withstand the test of lifetimes! As my mother spoon-fed him and pet his head a man that is not her father, the father to her husband that had passed over a decade ago, there it was it was love!
To watch someone, you love slowly crumble into something you are unfamiliar with is a pain I can't explain. It's an out-of-body experience, it's a dream state almost that you're praying and hoping it just ends!
But it didn't matter how tightly I closed my eyes every time I opened them, it was real.
The ventilator was real.
The heart monitor's beeping was real.
The fear in his eyes was real.
He feared leaving the people he loved behind
The unknown questionable and confusion of what the heck is next is fearful
Losing someone close to you really opens your eyes to the fact that there is one less person on this earth that loves you!
One less person that remembers my dad
One less person cheering for me, rooting for me, and praying for me
Love is scary because this is how it will all end right?
love the true test is loss, and the biggest fear is losing!
It's worth it though!
It's worth loving in significant ways. It's worth being there for the people you love, although you know someday you'll have to love just the memories of them.
